In a large saucepan, combine grapes with 3 cups water, honey, cinnamon, and star anise. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until grapes are very tender, 50 to 60 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes.

Lay a medium mesh strainer over a bowl and pour the grape mixture through. Gently press on the solids to remove juice from the fruit, but do not try to press the pulp though. You should have about 2 cups of grape cider. With a peeler, peel off a large strip of orange zest and add to the warm juice. Let cool, cover, and refrigerate.

When ready to serve, gently warm the cider over medium heat. Pour ½ cup of cider into each cup. Add 1 ½ ounces of rum and garnish with a twist of orange and a small skewer of fresh grapes.
